lsb-release software package provides Linux Standard Base version reporting utility, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install lsb-release
lsb-release is installed in your system.
Make ensure the lsb-release package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep lsb-release *
You will get with lsb-release package name, version, architecture and description in a table
